Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Solutions

The internet is changing everything about how we get our most basic needs met. In our previous section we learned about what makes a good website and why it is so important. The best website is of no value if no one ever sees it. Basically, SEO is a variety of techniques that can be used to help make sure your website gets seen. You can think of this kind of like an election. There are many things you can do to campaign and try and win votes. Some of these strategies will win you a lot of points and others may only slightly improve the way someone sees you. Unlike an actual election, the search engines do not rely on emotions. They do not care how delicious your cookies are or that you use your grandma’s special recipe. These search engines use algorithms that look at specific things to help decide what order to show the results.

There are many things that can be done to your website itself to help move it to the top of the list of search results. These are often called “on page” optimizations. This includes things such as making sure you have the necessary key words but also that these key words are in the right place. Other things like making sure your website loads quickly and is mobile friendly also help.

There are techniques that can be used that do not involve your website itself. These are often called “off page” optimizations. This includes things like adding backlinks from high-quality websites and making sure your information is consistent across all your online entities. One of the most beneficial online entities that is important to optimize is your Google Map Listing.

HOW DOES SEO INCREASE SALES?

When someone searches for something on Google or another search engine, it is estimated that about 1/3 of the clicks go to the website at the top of the list. Many people will often look at a couple of different sites to compare their options. It is less common for people to scroll very far down unless they are looking for something specific. This means that the farther down the list your website is, the less likely it is to be seen by potential customers. To put it the other way, the higher we can get your website on the list then the more people who will actually see your website.

SEO is an ongoing process as the algorithm’s do change from time to time. Your competition is also working on improving their websites and ranking on Google. It may take some time to see significant changes in your website’s ranking but investing in SEO is a long-term strategy that can yield wonderful results. If your website is not getting as many visitors as you would like, then consider using some search engine optimization (SEO) solutions. Here at SB6 Solutions we would love to help boost your rankings.
